Our Story

Hi, My name is Haley. A social worker by trade and a flower farmer by choice.

The early plantings of Blooming Loon Gardens began sometime around 2019 at our home in Vermont. Prior to digging in the dirt, I noticed a slow burning out from a career as a social worker. I knew I needed to do something different. I needed to be outside, and I needed to move my body. I needed the nourishment of experiencing and witnessing the tangible outcomes of starting seeds to harvesting blooms. In a matter of just a couple seasons, I enjoyed observing the garden’s transformation from a few raised beds, to a sprawling floral oasis. In 2023, I had to say goodbye to the much loved garden in Vermont when our family moved to NY about an hour south of where I grew up.

Our move to Springwater, NY offered me the opportunity to pursue my soul nourishing desires of being outside, building gardens, and creating with flowers. Spending time in the garden is a time where I can be fully present. I don’t hesitate to pause when I catch the dim hum of the hummingbird zooming in to drink sweet nectar from zinnias, or giggling when I see a buzzing bee wiggle its way into a snapdragon. I stop to shield my eyes and look up at the piercing calls of the red-tail and cooper hawks flying across the sky, and I take the quietest inhales when the monarch butterflies dance around the cosmos. Every morning, I have to sheepishly apologize to the darting streaks of yellow coming out of the foliage, realizing I have yet again, broken up the social gatherings of the goldfinch cool-birds club.

At Blooming Loon, It’s important to make sure the joy of gardening and creating stays central to our craft. We are small scale with a big heart and we are excited to share a variety of floral offerings with you!
